Geoff Jones joined CRA in 2025 as a Geophysical Specialist. He has been involved in archaeology since 1991, and from 1998 to 2025, he was a Principal at Archaeo-Physics, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in archaeological geophysics, remote sensing, and spatial analysis. In this role, he has experience in applying a broad range of techniques in interdisciplinary approaches to archaeology, and related problems in forensics and environmental protection. He has performed geophysical surveys at hundreds of archaeological sites in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. A particular interest has been in developing site-specific approaches to archaeological prospection, driven by research questions and considering unique archaeological and environmental contexts. He has authored numerous technical reports and journal articles, is a regular participant at regional and national conferences, and an instructor at archaeological field schools and geophysical workshops.
Before moving to Lexington to join CRA, Geoff was a lifelong resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Outside of work, he is often found outdoors, hiking, climbing, and messing around in boats. He also likes to travel and photography, and has been a long-time fencing coach and competitor.
