Archaeologist
Mason Niquette has worked intermittently for CRA since 2011, but joined permanently in 2022. He serves as President of CRA. He has a decade of experience in a wide variety of geographic areas, including the southeast, the midcontinent, and the southwest.
Mason was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky before attending Sewanee: the University of the South. Graduating in 2014 with his BA, Mason worked as a crew chief at Statistical Research, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona. After two years of conducting archaeological investigation in the Sonoran, Chihuahuan, and Mojave deserts, Mason studied anthropology at the University of Kansas, receiving his MA in 2018. He continued his studies into the PhD program. His dissertation focuses on the stratigraphic contexts and the site formation processes affecting a dry, deeply stratified rockshelter in the Big Bend region of Texas. He successfully defending his dissertation in December of 2022. During and after college, he also worked for CRA and other CRM firms learning the ins and outs of every position from Field Technician to Principal Investigator. In addition to his archaeological project experience from both CRM and academic projects, Mason specializes in geoarchaeological techniques and theory.
Outside of archaeology, Mason enjoys spending time with his dog, family, and friends. He spends much of his spare time cooking new recipes and reading.
