Li Bai joined CRA in 2014 and serves as the GIS/GPS specialist in the Shreveport, Louisiana office. Li holds a master’s in forest resources and conservation with a concentration in geomatics from the University of Florida, a master’s in precise instrument mechanics from the Beijing Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s in optical technology and photoelectronics from Changchun University of Science and Technology. She has certifications in Trimble ProXR technologies and ICGIS. She is responsible for all mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) services for the Louisiana office and occasionally for other CRA offices. As part of her duties, Li creates proposal, preparatory field, and final report mapping. She is also familiar with the use of geodatabases, predictive modeling, and remote sensing techniques.

Originally from Beijing, China, Li developed an early love and appreciation for ancient history, particularly Chinese and Egyptian history, which translated into an interest in archaeology. Although she never majored in an archaeology-related field in university, she took many classes in archaeology-related topics, including archaeological remote sensing and geophysics, after pursuing further graduate studies in the United States. She enjoys working with GIS, especially predictive modeling and data analysis.

Li’s favorite activities outside of work include traveling and visiting significant ancient archaeological, historic, and natural sites…to which her husband and children have sometimes reluctantly been dragged. She also enjoys mind puzzles, mystery novels, and occasionally cooking (but only when there is no one else around to cook for her).
