NPS QUALIFICATION(S)

Kathryn (Kat) McKenna joined CRA in 2025 as a Geophysical Archaeologist after earning her masters in Applied Anthropology from Mississippi State University. Her thesis utilized both geophysical and bioarchaeological methods to better understand the Yellow Fever Cemetery in Grenada, Mississippi. She has participated in projects across the southeast including working as a teaching assistant for the Asylum Hill Project to leading phase I surveys through the swamps off the coast of Mississippi. Her undergraduate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville provided a forensics and bioarchaeology background to which she continued to build on with the introduction of geophysical methods while obtaining a masters at Mississippi State University.

 

Outside of work, Kat can be found attempting to hike all of the peaks in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, camping, or hanging out with her husband and two cats June and Etsy.
