Kenneth “Kent” Aasand joined CRA’s West Fork, Arkansas, office in January 2025. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Mississippi State University and a Master’s of Professional Studies in Cultural and Heritage Resource Management from the University of Maryland. His thesis investigated the infrastructure of a burned antebellum plantation manor using ground-penetrating radar.
Over the ten plus years of his archaeology career, Kent has worked primarily in the Southeastern United States. Prior to joining CRA, Kent was the Site File Registrar for the Mississippi SHPO’s office, gaining expansive knowledge on the Section 106 processes, and in-depth experience with the archaeological resources of Mississippi. During his time at the state he was able to have conducted work at famous sites such as Grand Village of the Natchez Indians, Windsor Ruins, and Winterville Mounds. His current research interests are in the archaeological applications of remote sensing methods, geographical information systems (GIS), and 3-D imagining. Kent is additionally a licensed FAA drone pilot. During his spare time, Kent enjoys movies, attending concerts, reading, board and video games, and hanging out with friends.
