Flora Church

Flora Church has 26 years experience in the archaeology of the Eastern Woodlands. With a doctorate degree in anthropology (emphasis on Eastern Woodlands archaeology), she has worked in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts on projects ranging from phase I surveys to phase III excavations. Her areas of interest include Late Woodland/Late Prehistoric settlement and subsistence, faunal analysis, and high-power lithic analysis. Flora has produced numerous reports for all phases of survey, technical reports for faunal and high-power lithic analyses, and public presentations at a variety of informal local venues and at regional, national, and international conferences. In addition, she has published research papers in professional journals and contributed chapters to other scholarly publications.

Flora joined CRA in 2005 working as a Principal Investigator and directing the Ohio satellite office. She also serves as a faunal analyst and directs the high-power lithic laboratory.

Her greatest joys are her nephews—especially the two youngest. When not hiking, biking, playing baseball and games, reading, writing stories, and drawing with the boys, Flora enjoys gardening, walking, reading, writing, and quilting.
