Environmental Impact Statement Greens Hollow Coal Lease Tract in Utah

Project Name: Greens Hollow Coal Lease Tract Environmental Impact Statement
Location: Utah
Rural and/or Urban: Rural
Client: Cirrus Ecological Solutions
Dates: July 28, 2009 – February 2, 2010
CRA Project Manager: Colin R. Ferriman

Project Description: In July 2009 CRA was contracted to complete the cultural resource sections of Chapter 3 Affected Environment and Chapter 4 Environmental Consequences for the Greens Hollow Coal Lease Tract Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). In order to complete this task, CRA had to conduct an intensive pedestrian survey, compile the information of a previously conducted survey, and synthesize this information with data derived from file searches which were conducted at the Utah SHPO, Richfield BLM, Price BLM, Manti La Sal National Forest, and the Fishlake National Forest offices.

Together the two pedestrian surveys resulted in the documentation of 29 newly identified isolated finds, 11 newly identified sites (42SV3216, 42SV3217, 42SV3219-42SV3226, and 42SV3295), and the reevaluation of six previously identified sites (42SV1484, 42SV1578, 42SV2341, 42SV2554, 42SV2597, and 42SV2949)

The EIS accounted for three project alternatives (one no action alternative and two action alternatives). In this document CRA identified the potential impacts each alternative would have on cultural resources and mitigation procedures were put forth.

The preliminary Final EIS was submitted in December of 2009, and in February 2010 Federal agency comments were received. CRA is presently addressing the comments and preparing the cultural sections to be complied into the Final EIS which will be presented for public review in March 2010.
