Nicholas Arnhold is the Virginia Director of Operations. He is responsible for archaeological field direction, investigation, interpretation, and evaluation, as well as assisting with business development, marketing and new business capture for the company.
Nick joined CRA after three years with AECOM based in Richmond, Virginia, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he served as a Secretary of the Interior-qualified principal investigator. He has worked professionally in archaeology participating in and leading archaeological projects for public agencies and private outfits in the Middle Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Plains, and Great Basin. His responsibilities have encompassed the scope of archaeological investigation motivated by research and regulatory compliance.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts degree in anthropology from the University of Kansas where his research focused on mobility in the prehistoric Plains. His interests include human-environmental interaction, landscape use, anticipated mobility, organization of technology, and public archaeology. He has experience in geospatial data collection, processing, and analysis.
While not digging in the dirt, Nick enjoys free time with his wife and greyhound, hiking, and exploring the many Virginia breweries, vineyards, and distilleries.
