Kara Johannesen is a Field Technician at CRA’s Lexington office. Originally from the Catskill Mountains of New York, Ms. Johannesen has since moved around the country for schooling and work, until arriving at CRA in August of 2023. Kara has had an interest in archaeology since she was a young child, so majoring in anthropology was an easy choice when she attended the University of Central Florida, where she got her Bachelors degree. Realizing her passion for archaeology, she continued her education by getting her Masters in Anthropology from the University of Montana. For her MA research she conducted a ceramic analysis on pottery from two Maya sites in Belize through the use of Ceramic Petrography. Since then, she has worked various archaeology and CRM jobs across the United States and is excited to now be a part of CRA.

In her free time, Kara enjoys all things outdoors, including snowboarding, hiking, and camping. When those are not an option, you can find her painting, doing yoga, or on the hunt for fun vintage clothes and home accessories.
